Making Friends with Swans

Last Saturday, Emilie, Srishti and I went to Loch Lomond to celebrate Srishti's last day of being a teenager! We really wanted to just get out of Glasgow for a bit, and Loch Lomond was only a 50 minute train ride away, so why not? We were really lucky with the weather - the clouds were dark and scary the entire time we were there, but there wasn't a single drop of rain on the ground!

We're on a Loch!
We started off taking a boat cruise on the Loch. It was really beautiful (as is everything I have blogged about, I feel like). The boat cruise didn't stop anywhere, just went around the Loch. There was a tour guide pointing out various landmarks, like Cameron House and some other famous golf courses (of which I cannot remember the names of, sorry). It was a very nice, relaxing cruise. After the cruise, we stopped at this little cafe for lunch and it was delicious! We then walked down to Loch Lomond shores, because aside from the Loch cruise, that's the only other attraction at Loch Lomond.

Cameron House
Loch Lomond Shores was basically a long building with a lot of little stores in it. We didn't go into any of the stores, but we were tempted to buy ice cream (at least, I was). We looked for a place to rent bikes, but they weren't open that day. Bummer. Instead, we just walked around the beach and we saw these two HUGE swans just hanging out on the shore! Obviously, we had to go take pictures with them and it was completely terrifying. I was so scared they were just going to come out and eat me! Fortunately, that didn't happen, and they were very pleasant and minded their own business while Emilie, Srishti and I took a zillion pictures of them.

After hanging out with the swans for a while, we had a bit of time until the next train from Loch Lomond to Glasgow. We found this nice river walk and walked along it until I found two pieces of bread that some other kids had dropped.. I couldn't just leave the bread, so I started feeding the ducks and seagull-type-things that were in the river! Emilie and Srishti just sat and watched, and I joined them once I ran out of bread. It was very peaceful just to sit and listen to the squawking birds. Overall it was a very nice day!

Up next: Liz's visit and Ireland!

Love you all!
Mel
