Etc.

This is an update full of random things I've done but not blogged about yet. I'm sure it will be entertaining.

To start with, I BOUGHT MY TICKETS FOR THE HUNGER GAMES PREMIERE!! At 20:00 on Thursday, March 22 (that's 2PM for you Chicagoans and noon for my Californian friends), I will be sitting in a theater at Glasgow Quay bawling my eyes out because the best movie I will have ever seen in my life is about to begin. I CAN'T WAIT. Also, the theater is assigned seating, which means that I don't have to sit in line for 5 hours before the movie! Woohoo!!!!!

In other news, I got a cold this weekend. Not too thrilling, mostly means I have a headache and I need to buy about 20 packs of kleenex tomorrow on my way home from class. I also can't really taste anything so I've been eating a lot of plain pasta (and steaming my head over the boiling pasta) lately. But you all probably don't care about that, so let's move on to more exciting things, shall we?

Once upon a time, my friends came over to my flat and we had a very cultural dinner. Since we are a group of Australians who haven't eaten a lot of American things and American's who haven't eaten any Australian things, we all brought a dish to dinner. Our dinner consisted of vegemite (note: it may look like chocolate, but it definitely doesn't taste like chocolate), Cars mac & cheese (thank you mom!), and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! For dessert, we decorated gingerbread men and ate some delicious ice cream cake-type thing.

The other day, I saw The Vow. It was a cute movie. I absolutely hated the ending and I don't care if it was "based on a true story" or whatever. I did enjoy the multiple shots of Channing Tatum shirtless, though, and it was definitely worth my 3 pounds to see it. Yay for 2-for-1 student deals!

OH. MORE IMPORTANT THINGS. I (finally) finished planning everything for my spring break!! Get ready to be envious, because here's my schedule:

our cruise. nbd.
It all starts on Friday, March 23 when I will SEE THE HUNGER GAMES AGAIN, and then my dad/brother/Jackie are coming! They are here until the 29th, and during that time we are going to be wandering aimlessly around Scotland! We're scheduled to hit up the highlands/Inverness, Isle of Skye, Stirling, and, of course, Edinburgh and Glasgow. We'll probably find ourselves in other places along the way, but those are the highlights as of now! Yay for Scotland! On the 30th, I'm flying to Barcelona bright and early to meet up with Michaela! We're in Barcelona for 3 nights and then we're flying to Lisbon, Portugal. We stay in Portugal for 2 nights, and then Michaela is going somewhere else (Strasbourg? Germany? Who knows. Not me.) and I am flying back to Glasgow. I'll be in Glasgow for a good 14 hours before I fly off to Rome with Melissa and Steph! We are staying in Rome for 3 days, then taking a train from Rome to Naples for a few hours, and then from Naples to Bari. We'll be in Bari for the night before embarking on our MEDITERRANEAN CRUISE the next morning! Our cruise is 7 nights and 8 days, and we'll be stopping in Olympia, Greece; Izmir, Turkey; Istanbul, Turkey; Dubrovnik, Croatia; and Venice, Italy before heading back to Bari. After our cruise, we're spending two more days in Bari and then it's back to Glasgow just in time for exams.

In case you didn't read that whole thing, basically it's Scotland March 23-30, Barcelona March 30-April 2, Portugal April 2-4, Glasgow on the 4th, Rome April 5-7, Bari on the 7th, then a cruise from April 8-15, Bari April 15-17, and then back to Glasgow. I AM SO EXCITED.

That's all I can think of for now. I'm off to go blow my nose and get some sleep before class tomorrow. Love you all!!

Mel

PS let me know if you want something specific as a souvenir, otherwise you're probably all going to get keychains.

  1. Hey Mel,

Britne's mom here! She gave me your link to your blog. What an awesome experience you are having. I guess the rest of us just have to live it vicariously through you! Your cruise sounds amazing and I know Britne is so jealous. I hope you enjoy the rest of the time abroad and I am sure I'll see you at Chapman next semester.
